Youth

At the Jamie Horrocks Trust, we believe that supporting the wellbeing of young people is vital for building stronger, healthier communities. Good mental health in early life lays the foundations for resilience, confidence, and future success. Through our Youth programmes, we offer safe spaces, positive activities, and tailored support to empower young people, build emotional fitness, and promote a culture where it’s always okay to ask for help. By investing in their wellbeing today, we are helping to protect and nurture the futures of our community’s young people.

Futures Programme

Through our Futures programme, we provide early intervention support for young people who need it most. Working closely with Irlam and Cadishead Academy, our qualified youth workers offer one-to-one mentoring, advice, and encouragement – building trusted relationships that make a real difference. We help young people improve their wellbeing, access new opportunities, and reduce the risks linked to anti-social behaviour and criminality. Every young person deserves a positive role model and a brighter future.

Irlam and Cadishead Youth Hub

When the school gates close, our doors open. Our Youth Hub offers a free, welcoming space during every half term and school holiday, packed with sports, activities, competitions, gaming, chill-out spaces, and cooking classes – always delivered by qualified youth workers. With free food provided, the Youth Hub is open to all young people in our community, helping them stay active, connected, and supported when they need it most.

Enrichment Trips

Our enrichment trips turn teacher training days into unforgettable opportunities. Whether it’s through sport, aspiration-building experiences, or simply creating positive memories, we make sure young people have access to experiences they might not otherwise enjoy. Trips are often used to reward positive behaviour at school or in the community, and to show young people how far they can go when given the right support.

Support in the Community

We believe that supporting young people means supporting families too. Alongside youth work, we provide food parcels, signposting, bespoke courses, volunteering pathways, and early employment opportunities. Our youth workers also deliver community-based mentoring, reaching out to offer one-to-one support where it’s needed. By standing alongside young people and their families, we strengthen our community for everyone.
